Maduro: Reinforcement of vaccination against COVID-19 will begin in January

During the presentation of the weekly balance of the fight against Covid19, the Venezuelan head of state, Nicolás Maduro, announced that the journey to reinforce the vaccination against Sars-Cov2 will begin in January 2022.

In this sense, he indicated that the reinforcement scheme «is a very important issue”, however, he pointed out the need to first complete the immunization process of 100% of the population this year.

Therefore, he urged the population to attend vaccination centers in order to move towards a new normalcy, without neglecting biosecurity measures:

«I appeal to your conscience, (take) maximum care”, he stressed.

50% of the population vaccinated:

In this regard, President Nicolás Maduro assured that they estimate that they will reach the goal of 50% of people vaccinated against covid-19 throughout the country by the end of this week, and reiterated that by October 31, “Venezuela will reach 70% of people vaccinated”.

Maduro highlighted the efforts made to meet this goal, amidst the pressure and aggression maintained by the United States government, such as the recent blocking of bank accounts of private Venezuelan entrepreneurs who wanted to bring to the country vaccines against the coronavirus.

House by house:

However, he announced that the impulse to increase vaccination is maintained through the Expanded Program of Immunizations (PAI), for which he ordered the incorporation of more than 13,000 popular clinics to the house-by-house care deployments:

«We have given instructions so that in all popular clinics are activated 30 or 40 households per week in order to reach a higher number of 4 million homes visited between now and December”, explained the Minister of People’s Power for Health, Carlos Alvarado.

The house-by-house search aims at screening for COVID-19, recruiting of unvaccinated people, expanding immunization coverage for minors and providing integral care for various pathologies.
