President confirms arrival of vaccines in the country through COVAX system to immunize 6.2 million people

President Nicolás Maduro confirmed that in the next few days new batches of vaccines will begin to arrive in the country through the COVAX system, to immunize 6.2 million Venezuelans, and reinforce the mass vaccination plan throughout the country:

“The COVAXmechanism has already confirmed that it is going to deliver vaccines to Venezuela for 6.2 million people, and they have established a schedule, the vaccine has already been paid and in the next few days the lots of vaccines will be arriving in Venezuela”, he said.

During a new work journey to present the weekly balance of the fight against Covid-19 in the country, he reiterated that in addition to the vaccines articulated with the United Nations mechanism, new batches of vaccines purchased from Russian and Chinese companies, as well as the Abdalá vaccine from Cuba.

However, the national president insisted on the need to continue strengthening epidemiological surveillance and increase supervision to ensure strict compliance with bio-sanitary protection measures throughout the country, given the danger posed by the Delta variant, on which he confirmed the detection of four new cases in national territory this week, all of them coming from abroad.

4 million vaccinated:

For his part, the Minister for Health, Carlos Alvarado reported that to date in the country 4,167,000 people already have at least one dose of the vaccines that are being applied in Venezuela and assured that with the arrival of new batches they hope to meet the immunization schedule for 70% of the population for the month of October.
