Maduro: 82% of the food we consume is produced in the country

Venezuela produces, to date, 82% of the food consumed in the country, “a great achievement amidst the war”, emphasized the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro during the journey of Productive Wednesday, held in La Guaira.

The Head of State assured that this achievement has been possible thanks to the popular organization in the pursuit of the objective of overcoming, together, the impact of the criminal blockade and the unilateral coercive actions applied by the United States government against the Venezuelan people.

One of the results of this collective action is reflected in the increase in fish production, an item of which more than 87,000 tons are being directed to the National Protein Distribution Plan, reaching about 95% of the established goal, as explained Maduro.

President Maduro, in the company of the authorities of the Ministries of Agriculture and Land, as well as that of Fisheries and Aquaculture, said from La Guaira that he is supervising the production of foodstuffs coming from the sea.

In this sense, he revealed that fishing and seafood processing processes are already in operation in all coastal and maritime areas of the country.

For financing to be fulfilled:

In this regard, the Head of State instructed that he be kept informed in real time about the resources that the banks should reach the country’s producers, in order to maintain the flow of resources to finance the activities of the sector.

In this sense, Maduro urged Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez to articulate with the public and private financial system, to ensure they are financing factors to activate food production for the country:

If necessary, I would call the bank myself to accelerate the resources. We say to the producers, we are already in the task”, he stressed.

For his part, the Minister for Agriculture and Land, Wilmar Castro Soteldo, reported at the same event that “up to May 10, 927,980 tons of processed food had been produced in the country.”
