The member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas strongly reject the shameful verbal attack by the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, against the Secretary of Foreign Relations of the United Mexican States, Marcelo Ebrard.
It is an unacceptable and continuing pattern of reckless behavior towards selected countries. Almagro’s actions are not only a scandalous interference in the internal affairs of the States, prohibited by the OAS Charter; but also constitute a flagrant excess of his authority and duties.
The member countries of ALBA ratify their solidarity and support to the Secretary of Foreign Relations of Mexico, and express respect for Mexican institutions in the Federal and Local elections being held on June 6 this year.
