Vice President Rodríguez thanks Russia’s support to Venezuela to combat the pandemic

The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, thanked this Friday for Russia’s support to the country, to combat the situation of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, with the supply of vaccines:

Russia and Venezuela reinforce their strategic alliance of cooperation and friendship for the sake of a pluri-polar world. We appreciate the support of President Vladimir Putin in the historic vaccination process in Venezuela. Together we will advance in this tireless battle against the Covid19 pandemic,” wrote the Executive Vice President in her account on the Twitter social network.

Earlier, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, and his Russian pair, Vladimir Putin, held a phone call, in order to strengthen cooperation agreements.

During this exchange, both leaders reaffirmed their intention to expand bilateral strategic cooperation relations in different areas and, among the aspects addressed in this regard, they made special emphasis on assistance in the fight against Covid-19.

This Thursday began in Venezuela the vaccination day with the Russian drug, in a first stage, prioritizing health personnel, social work, military, security and authorities officials and that will be carried out for two weeks, with the first 100,000 doses of the vaccine that arrived in the nation last Saturday.

The “The Lancet” medical journal recently published preliminary results of the third phase trials of the Russian drug, which show the vaccine is 91.6% effective, suitable for all age groups and has no serious side effects.
