Deputies condemn frustrated explosive attack against the AN

Deputies to the National Assembly (AN) held a debate on Tuesday to condemn the frustrated attack with explosives against the parliament.

During the plenary session in the hemicycle, Congresswoman Tania Díaz said that it is an action that is part of the ongoing plan and violent agenda against the country, from abroad:

We have to take it as part of the aggression agenda, and whoever gets involved in corruption is also a traitor to the country, onw who serves its enemies. We all know what the intention is”, added Díaz.

In the same order, Deputy José Gregorio Correa indicated that the opposition fraction in parliament rejects the violence and supports the case to be referred to the Permanent Committee on Internal Policy for an investigation to proceed.

«We do not officiate violence, wherever it comes from; we support any investigation to that end”, he noted.

For his part, legislator Jesús Suárez Chourio added that this frustrated intention against the lives of the deputies, as well as the people and infrastructure, cannot go unpunished; “Let the masterminds be reached,” he emphasized.

Earlier, the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez gave an account to the plenary about the arrest of the former head of security of the Parliament, who intended to place explosives in three points adjacent to the Legislative Branch.

The plan was planned in Colombia with the support of the neighboring country’s National Intelligence Directorate (DNI), said Rodríguez.
