Venezuela and Russia review strategic alliance for the supply of Sputnik V vaccine

Russia and Venezuela reviewed their strategic alliance, as well as the multilateral geopolitical agenda; the Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, and the Russian Ambassador, Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov, held a meeting in Caracas.

The Venezuelan Chancellory reported that both diplomats spoke about the supply of the Sputnik V vaccine against Covid-19, among other cooperation issues.

The meeting took place at the Yellow House (Seat of the Venezuelan Chancellory) in the capital city, says a press release.

The alliance between Venezuela and Russia covers the areas of energy, transportation, mining, agriculture, health, pharmaceuticals and education.

In December 2020, Venezuela completed the purchase of 10 million doses of the Russian vaccine.

President Nicolás Maduro has indicated that they estimate to start mass immunization in the coming month of April.
