COVID: Venezuela registers 495 infections and maintains 95% recovery rate

This Sunday, during her participation in the Weekly Balance offered by the Presidential Commission for the Control and Prevention of COVID-19, the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, assured that Venezuela has registered a total of 495 new cases of COVID-19, of which 424 are community-transmissions and 14 are imported cases, to raise the total number of infections to 116,610, while the rate of recovered patients remains at 95% of all cases, thanks to the free treatments guaranteed by the Bolivarian Government.

Likewise, Rodríguez, during the balance, specified that the entities with the highest number of community infections are:

Capital District: 88

Zulia: 77

Lara: 70

Miranda: 54

Yaracuy: 34

Nueva Esparta: 26

Tachira: 21

In the same way, she reported that of the 14 imported cases, 11 came from Turkey, one from the Dominican Republic, one from Mexico and one from Argentina; all entered through La Guaira on flights.

In this sense, Rodríguez pointed out that the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) is in talks with the countries with which air transport channels are open to reinforce the protocols for entering the country with the duly certified PCR test.

Likewise, Rodríguez specified that during the last week, Venezuela has maintained an average of 4,928 active cases, 300 new cases and 300 recovered per day.

We came from a reduction in cases since September, until in the last week of October we entered a plateau of active cases that had remained with little variation until November and the first two weeks of December. An increase in cases then begins from the third week of December that continues up to date,” she explained.

Likewise, she stressed that since the last week of December the country maintains a rate of 15 active cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Likewise, she announced that during the first week of January there were more active cases and discharges than the previous week, and is expected an increase in cases for the upcomingweeks of this month. In other words, the growth rate is maintained for the fourth consecutive week, which is why the authorities call to reinforce biosafety measures.

Finally, the Executive Vice President indicated that 6 entities registered declines in cases: Apure, Carabobo, Lara, Mérida, La Guaira, Nueva Esparta, Táchira and Zulia.
