President of TSJ received report on parliamentary elections of DEC-6

The president of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), magistrate Maikel Moreno, received from the hands of the president of the National Electoral Council, Indira Alfonzo, the report on the execution of the sentence of the Constitutional Chamber N ° 068-2020 dated June 5, 2020, through which, among other aspects, the CNE was ordered to call the elections to elect new members to the National Assembly.

Judge Juan José Mendoza Jover, who presides over the aforementioned Chamber of the Venezuelan Highest Court, was present at the event.

The report, addressed to the magistrates of the Constitutional Chamber, details the execution of the aforementioned ruling with regard to the calling and holding of parliamentary elections, as reviewed a press release from the Supreme Court.

During the activity, held at the headquarters of the Highest Court, magistrate Maikel Moreno congratulated the president of the CNE, Indira Alfonzo, and the other rectors of the electoral body, together with the workers of that institution, for the successful completion of the parliamentary elections in which the Venezuelan people were the main protagonists.

Moreno stated that the Venezuelan Judicial Power will continue to be the guarantor, within the scope of its powers, in preserving the peace and democratic institutions of the nation, in faithful compliance with the postulates established in the Constitution and the laws of the Republic.

In decision N ° 068-2020, the Constitutional Chamber dis-applied, with erga omnes effects, articles 14, 15, 174, 175, 176, 177, 178, 179, 180, 181, 182 and 186 of the Organic Law on Electoral Processes.

In addition, it ordered the CNE to proceed to assume the pertinent regulatory development as a consequence of the declared dos-application, in accordance with the guidelines indicated in the ruling.
