The National Center for Historical Studies Foundation announced on Tuesday, December 15, the call for the 2020 National History Prize, which will be awarded to the most outstanding career in the study, research, teaching and dissemination of history in any of its modalities and specialties.
In a meeting held this Tuesday, between the members of the National Center for Historical Studies Foundation, also known as the National Center of History, with the members of the Simón Bolívar Center for Studies, the Network of History, Memory and Heritage, and historians. Alexander Torres , president of the aforementioned Foundation, explained that this award was announced for the first time in 2017.
The same, as Torres detailed, is an acknowledgment to all the men and women of extensive, intense and enthusiastic work who have fulfilled the investigation, dissemination and teaching of history: “They are professionals with more than 30 years of careers in the world of defense of identity, memory and national heritage. The award has a wide receptivity in the world of historians, cultists and chroniclers. Already well-known historians and scholars of history have been creditors of it in its previous editions,» he said.
The call begins on December 15 and ends on March 15, 2021. The announcement of the winner will be made in April.

Basis of the Prize
The National Center for Historical Studies Foundation, an entity attached to the Ministry of the Office of the Presidency and Monitoring of Government Management, in compliance with the provisions of Decree No. 2,979, published in the Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela No. 41,187, dated July 6, 2017, opens the call for the Third Edition of the National History Award under the following bases:
The award:
1.- The 2020 National History Prize will be awarded to the most outstanding career in the study, research, teaching and dissemination of history in any of its modalities and specialties.
2.- The Prize may be awarded to one or more people, at the discretion of the qualifying jury.
3.- The 2020 National History Prize consists of a diploma, a statuette and an allocation of a cash prize.
4.- This award will be held at a public event organized by the National Center for Historical Studies.
5.- The Prize cannot be declared void.
Participants
6.- Venezuelan citizens with more than 30 years of experience in the field of dissemination, research, and teaching of history may apply or be nominated for the 2020 National History Prize.

7.- Applications must be delivered to the Presidency of the National Center for Historical Studies along with the following collections, printed and digitized, on a compact disc (CD):

The jury:
8.- The evaluation and selection process for the 2020 National History Prize will be in charge of a jury composed of three (3) specialists in the area, appointed by the Board of Directors of the National Center for Historical Studies.
9.- The jury will issue its verdict once the supports have been reviewed and will make decisions by majority. The verdict will be recorded in a minute, in accordance with the provisions of the National History Award.
10.- The verdict of the jury will be final.
11.- No copies or supports of the requirements stated by the participants will be returned.
Final provisions:
12.- The application deadline will be from December 15 to March 15, 2021, both dates inclusive.
13.- The verdict will be announced during the month of April 2021 through the web portal of the National Center for Historical Studies www.cnh.gob.ve, as well as print, audiovisual and social media.
14.- The date and place of the awards will be announced in due course.
