National Government holds Work Meeting with the new Permanent Representative of FAO in Venezuela

Within the framework of strengthening Cooperation between Venezuela and the United Nations System, this Monday was held a Work Meeting of authorities of the National Executive and the new Permanent Representative to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Venezuela, Alexis Bonte.

During this Conference participated the Vice President and Minister of Planning, Ricardo Menéndez; the Minister of People’s Power for Food, M / G Carlos Leal Tellerías; and the Minister of People’s Power for Urban Agriculture, Greicys Barrios, during which they presented the food projects that the country is developing with said organization.

In this sense, the Vice President of Planning stressed that “We have had this important Conference with the FAO Representative, during which we have raised what corresponds to the Plan of the Homeland, based on the development of our country, and likewise the different projects of broad strategic importance with both ministries (Food and Urban Agriculture)”.

Likewise, Minister Menéndez asserted that Venezuela occupies one of the highest positions in the world regarding the protection of the people in food matters.

“For Venezuela, food is a human right, inalienable from the point of view of its Government and the development of the Bolivarian Revolution,” highlighted Menéndez.

Regarding the blockade, he pointed out that it “has had a focus of attention affecting the living standards of our population.”

For his part, the Minister of People’s Power for Food, M / G Leal Tellerías assured that this meeting served as a framework to publicize the experiences in food sovereignty of our country, which is guaranteed with a home food distribution system at home.

About the Plans developed by said ministry, Leal Tellerías pointed out that “the Claps, as the flagship plan of the Bolivarian Revolution, the School Feeding Program (PAE), the food houses, in short thirteen (13) plans that the National Government leads to protect the people from the attacks of the criminal blockade and the economic war”.

He also announced that they will soon hold meetings to present the popular food distribution systems of our country, which have made possible, despite the pandemic, to meet the needs of the Venezuelan people.

Finally, the Minister of People’s Power for Urban Agriculture, Greicys Barrios, affirmed that “We are developing a sectoral plan for Urban Agriculture that has allowed us to access inputs, tools and financing for men and women producers of our country ”.

In the same way, Barrios stressed that through the plans launched by this ministry there has been a “recognition of the productive capacities of our people’s power in the development of urban agriculture at the community and the family level.”
