79% of the University sector approves distance study plan for Covid-19

79% of the members of the Venezuelan university community approved the idea of a distance study plan considering the Covid-19 pandemic, as reported on Monday the Minister for University Education, César Trompiz.

“79% of the participants in the survey approve the home university plan as a priority for this educational time, in order to continue the pursuit from home and thus protect the right to education”, he said.

Minister Trompiz also explained that “in the consultation that we are conducting have participated more than 395,000 members of the university community”.

Regarding this, he pointed out that they have expressed diverse opinions regarding the consultation on the return to school raised by the National Executive, in the context of the pandemic and the modalities of flexibilization.

He added that all the proposals are being systematized to prepare a general proposal that will be presented to the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

In addition, he pointed out that the classes that return in September for the remaining four month term of this 2020 will be given remotely, that is, the “university at home” plan will be maintained.

He said that in the case of careers or curricular units for practical study or sensitive areas, these will be the only ones requiring an indispensable presence, which “will not represent a majority”.
