«Amidst the blockades, and given the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, fortunately we have had a National Government headed by President Nicolás Maduro, which was prepared, and it is that for the purposes of statistics Venezuela has the mortality figure per million inhabitants the lowest in the world, and that cannot be hidden”, highlighted this Sunday the sectoral vice president for Communication, Culture and Tourism, Jorge Rodríguez.
The statements were given by the Sectoral Vice President for Communication, Culture and Tourism during an interview with the program «Aquí con Ernesto» (Here with Ernesto), conducted by the journalist and Minister of People’s Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, where he stated that the United States (USA) and countries allied to Donald Trump’s neoliberalism use dirty campaigns in order to discredit the Venezuelan health system:
“In their macabre, selfish desire, and in their neoliberal model, they had a plan and it was for Venezuela to succumb to COVID-19, they wanted the country to desist from the existence of this virus and it turned out the opposite, the right-wing governments, in the real and practical scopes, are faced with two models: the first one with selfishness, private medical care, misunderstood natural selection, the neoliberal model that only the most act survives; and secondly the model of solidarity, the model of public attention, of 100 percent free tests in Venezuela, there is no doubt that this model is much more efficient to face serious diseases such as COVID-19”, he explained.
The also Minister of People’s Power for Communication and Information indicated that, would Venezuela had adopted the conduct of countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru where their presidents did not bet on the safety and integrity of the health of the people, as of today the country would have no less than 10,000 deaths, no less than 700,000 infected people:
«We prepared on time, so we have had the capacity to attend to all patients, we as the National Government are looking for patients at their homes, we attend to all of them, the asymptomatic, those with mild to moderate symptoms and severe cases, that is why we must also acknowledge that Venezuela has a significant number of COVID-19 recovered patients, and even with the blockade we have had the spaces and are applying the treatments for free», he said.
He also reported that in Venezuela we have achieved this through social distancing, the use of face masks and early diagnosis of the cases we have, but “people cannot have the tendency to relax sanitary measures, we must be careful and strengthen efforts to care health”, he said.
