Chancellors of Venezuela and Suriname pledge to strengthen bilateral relations

This Monday, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, held a conversation with his counterpart from the new Suriname government, Albert Ramdin, to talk, among other things, about the cooperation ties against COVID-19 and the need of integration in Latin America and the Caribbean:

“This morning I spoke with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the new government of Suriname, Albert Ramdin. We agree to expand our bilateral relationship to new sectors, support each other in the face of COVID-19, reinforce regional integration and meet when the pandemic subsides”, communicated the Chancellor through his Twitter account @jaarreaza.

In the conversation, the Ministers agreed on the expansion and strengthening of friendly relations for the benefit of both peoples, and hold high-level meetings -or when the parties agree- after overcoming the global crisis caused by the pandemic.

The Chancellors also agreed on the strengthening of regional political integration and concerting mechanisms, such as the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas-Peoples’ Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

It should be noted that through a joint declaration signed in 2019, Minister Jorge Arreaza, and the now former Chancellor of Suriname, Yldiz Pollack-Beighle, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen and expand existing ties of cooperation and brotherhood as fundamental pillars for the benefit of both countries.
