Venezuela reports 242 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours

The Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, reported on Monday that in the last 24 hours were detected 193 cases by community transmission, 49 imported cases, for a total of 242 new patients and four deaths by coronavirus in the country.

She said that, of the 193 cases of community transmission, the Capital District has 69 new positive cases of this respiratory disease in 11 parishes of the entity.

“We have 22 new cases in El Valle, (8) in Sucre-Catia, (6) in Antímano, (8) in Coche, (4) in La Vega, (3) in San Juan, and San Bernardino, El Recreo, La Candelaria, La Pastora and 23 de Enero parishes with (2) cases each”, she said after the meeting with the Presidential Commission for the Control of Covid-19 in Venezuela.

Delcy Rodriguez announced that due to the growing number of cases registered in Miranda state, with 32 new infections, and the Capital District with 69, was submitted the proposal to President Nicolas Maduro, to raise these two regions of the country to level 1 of the radical quarantine.

Likewise, she reported that in Bolivar state there are 33 new patients, in La Guaira state 14 cases, Sucre state counted 12 new cases, Merida 11, Tachira (8), Zulia (6), Aragua (4), Nueva Esparta (8) and in Lara (2) affected people.

The Vice President indicated that the total number of imported cases for this Monday is (37) arriving from Colombia, (4) from Brazil, (3) Peru, (3) Ecuador and (2) by contact with international travelers in Táchira state, to add up to 49 in total.

She lamented the death of (4) Venezuelans, a 67-year-old man, another 52-year-old man, an active military member of the FANB, and a 63-year-old woman, all from the municipality of Maracaibo. The fourth case was a 59-year-old man from Ureña, in Táchira state.

“We warn the entire population about the danger of the virus, we must reiterate the health measures and apply them, there is a significant increase in cases and for that reason we must apply strategies to contain the virus, the rule is to stay home”.

Rodríguez also said that in Venezuela, there are currently 9,707 cases, of which 6,943 are active, of which 98.8% are being treated in the public health network, and 1.2% in private clinics.
