Venezuela reports 230 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

This Wednesday the Sector Vice President for Communication, Culture and Tourism, Jorge Rodríguez, reported that in the last 24 hours, Venezuela reports 230 new Covid-19 infection cases, with 201 cases of community transmission, 29 imported cases and three deceased to sum 54 in total.

He noted that, of the 201 cases of community transmission, 156 correspond to Zulia state, of which 70 cases are from the Las Pulgas Market focus.

“The focus of the Las Pulgas Market in Zulia state is the largest outbreak of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic in the Nation”, said the also Minister for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez.

He also detailed that 22 of the community transmission cases are from the Capital District, 11 from Bolivar state, seven from Miranda, three from Aragua, one from Lara, and one from Mérida.

Of the people who lost their lives due to the virus, he mentioned “today we must report the unfortunate death of three ladies. A 46-year-old female nurse from Zulia state, another lady, a 63-year-old also from Zulia state, a merchant from the Las Pulgas market; and a 48-year-old woman from La Guaira state, who traded merchandise from Colombia.

In this regard, she said that, of the 29 imported cases, there are 16 cases coming from Colombia, 11 from Brazil, one from Bolivia and one from Peru.

He also highlighted that Venezuela reaches 6,062 cases. He also detailed that there are 1,649 people recovered, totaling with “4,359 active cases”, said Rodríguez.

Likewise, he asserted that 99% of Venezuelan Covid-19 patients are being treated at sentinel hospitals.

He reported that Venezuela reaches 1,270,173 Covid-19 diagnostic tests, “which represents a rate per million inhabitants of 42,339 tests”, concluded Rodríguez, through an informative contact.
