Venezuela increases number of Covid-19 infected to 3,062 and 26 deceased

The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, reported on Monday that in Venezuela the number of Covid-19 coronavirus positive cases rose to 3,062, after confirming 84 new infected by the outbreak.

In a telephone contact with Venezolana de Televisión, the Executive Vice President detailed that 20 of those are cases of community transmission, and 65 are imported cases.

Likewise, is reported a new decease by Covid-19, which increases the number of fatal victims to 26. The patient who died is located in Zulia state, due to the focus of the Las Pulgas Market.

Of the 20 community infections, 14 come from the country’s main focus today, located in the Las Pulgas market in Zulia state. This entity alone has 242 infections and 7 of the deaths that have been registered throughout the national territory. Its origin is the commercial passage that exists between that region and Maicao, in Colombia.

Another of the community infections was detected in Petare, Miranda state; In this regard, it caught the attention of the citizens, since it has not been detected the origin of the infection of this person, a 49-year-old man who has not traveled nor had any contact with travelers or people suspected of having the virus.

Up to date, Venezuela has 835 patients recovered, which represents a 27% of cases.

Delcy Rodríguez explained, in turn, that out of the 80% of the cases treated in Venezuela: “very few are active cases, in this sense, 1,853 people remain admitted to Integral Diagnostic Centers (CDI) or sentinel hospitals”, she warned.

Likewise, she thanked all the sectors that have just joined the flexibilization sessions for respecting the protection protocol against Covid-19 decreed by the National Executive, such as the proper use of the face mask: “Today, Monday, Venezuela joins in a second phase of incorporation of new sectors in the national economic life, the 10 sectors that had initially begun the flexibilization, then we moved on to the 7 + 7 quarantine formula, to protect the Venezuelan people”, said Delcy Rodríguez.

Finally, Delcy Rodríguez recalled that “South America is currently the world’s epicenter of Covid 19, which sums to the mistreatment that are suffering the Venezuelans, victims of persecution and xenophobia, who are living in Colombia, Brazil and Peru under contempt and discrimination”; this has made that Venezuela has received a total of 59,004 people from April 6, 2020 up to date.
