Venezuela denounces to UN inaction of Colombia at the border due to the Covid-19 pandemic

Venezuela denounced this Wednesday before the Agency System of the United Nations Organization (UN) in the country, the inaction of the Colombian government on the border amidst the global crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The purpose of the meeting focused on detailing the situation that occurs on the border and the illegal passagings of people from the neighboring country, after registering more than 250 positive cases of Covid-19 coming from Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil, mainly.

The meeting was chaired by the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy, Rodríguez, with the participation of the UN resident chief in Venezuela, Peter Grohmann, and representatives of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

Also participated by the National Executive the Minister of Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, and the Minister of Health, Carlos Alvarado. The meeting took place at the Military Circle in Caracas.

In addition, all the preventive measures and protocols adopted by the Venezuelan Government to face the pandemic were evaluated, of which 824 infections are already counted in the country.

The Minister of Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, highlighted the decision of President Nicolás Maduro to create sanitary cordons at the borders to prevent the entry of more positive cases, coming from neighboring nations.

“Sanitary cords to serve the thousands and thousands of compatriots who are entering through Táchira, Zulia, Apure and Bolívar states”, said Rodríguez.
