
The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that 37 new cases of Covid-19 were registered for this Sunday, for a total of 541.
Of the total cases confirmed this day, 34 are imported: 19 coming from Peru and 14 from Colombia, while 4 are community infections. Of these, 25 are men and 12 are women.
She specified that 75% of the cases in Venezuela are imported, from the compatriots who are returning to the country. Regarding the flight arriving from Peru, she pointed out that it is the return of Venezuelans on May 8, from Lima.
33 of the cases are geographically located in the Capital District and 4 in Apure state.
Rodríguez pointed out that all the citizens who have returned to the country are already installed in sanitary cords, where they receive special treatment. These cases are mostly asymptomatic.
She reported that, of the (total of) 541 infected, 241 people have already recovered (44.5%), 290 cases are active and, of these, 121 are in sentinel hospitals, 121 people are in Integral Diagnostic Centers (CDI) and 18 in private clinics.
Rodríguez explained that, of the general total, 213 have been infected by community contact, 95 by international contact and 233 of the cases are imported.
Of the people who have returned to Venezuela and have tested positive for the virus, Colombia rebounds with 97 cases; Peru, 44; Spain, 29; Brazil, 24; Dominican Republic, 10 cases; Ecuador, 10; Chile, 5 cases; USA, 4 cases; Mexico, 4 cases, as well as Italy, Switzerland, among others.
The vice president pointed out that Venezuela has carried out more than 575,000 tests of Covid-19, for a total of 19,179 tests per million inhabitants.
Since the quarantine began, 41,099 compatriots have returned to the territory, and of that number, 155 people have tested positive for coronavirus.
Rodríguez asked to reinforce all the security mechanisms for health personnel and announced that this Monday the World Health Organization (WHO) will hold its general assembly, which will be attended by the Venezuelan Minister of Health.
