FANB increases measures at the border to prevent spread of coronavirus

The Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) increased this Wednesday the preventive measures on the border with Colombia and Brazil to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus in Venezuela, said the Operational Strategic Commander of the military corps (CEOFANB), Remigio Ceballos:

“The FANB increases and extreme containment measures against Covid-19, all the Strategic Regions and Operational Zones of Integral Defense remain alert and in dynamic action to protect the People of Venezuela against the pandemic by order of our CJ (Commander in Chief) Nicolás Maduro”, wrote Ceballos in his account on the Twitter social network.

Earlier, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, urged to reinforce preventive measures on the border with Colombia and Brazil, in order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, which has already registered 440 positive cases.

“Attention, Venezuela: We are raising prevention measures at the border. It is the Colombia focus, it is the Brazil focus. They are threats to Venezuela, that is why we have to take extreme measures. Take extreme measures, because we cannot allow ourselves to be infected from Colombia and Brazil”, said the Venezuelan head of state from the Aquiles Nazoa House in Caracas.

Venezuela registered 17 new cases due to the outbreak on Wednesday, bringing the contagion to 440. Of the 17 new infected, 13 are coming from Colombia.

It should be noted that Colombia registers this Wednesday night 12,930 infected by coronavirus; 509 deceased and 3,133 recovered.

For its part, Brazil – the center of the pandemic in Latin America and the Caribbean – has 189,157 positive cases, 13,158 deaths and 78,424 people recovered.
