The Minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, announced that the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, ordered the second phase of the Bolivarian Shield Military Exercises, after the neutralization this Sunday of an incursion through La Guaira state of mercenaries who were trying a coup d’etat.
The new phase of military exercises that will begin in the next few hours throughout the country, will have special emphasis in the entire national coastal region to make «strong searches, by air, sea and land, to search for and detect any other element or conspiracy cell that would want to enter to destabilize the peace of the nation”, detailed the head of Defense.
«The Bolivarian National Armed Forces reject from the heart, from its soul, this imperialist aggression against the Homeland that has as its Liberator the sword of Bolívar. We declare ourselves in permanent rebellion against US imperialism, against those who dare to tread our national sovereignty, we declare ourselves in permanent vigilance», reiterated Padrino López.
On Sunday morning, the Venezuelan state security forces neutralized a paramilitary incursion from Colombia over the coast of La Guaira.
In the operation were killed eight mercenaries, and the security corps seized weapons of the highest caliber; satellite phones; vehicles with machine guns mounting rigs, among other tools.
