Chancellor Arreaza denounces new attempt of coup d’etat by the US against Venezuela

The Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, denounced this Thursday a new attempt of a coup d’etat by the United States Government against Venezuela and its democratic institutions.

The denounce was made in statements from the headquarters of the Yellow House Antonio José de Sucre (Seat of the Venezuelan Chancellory), in Caracas, where he read an official statement issued by the Venezuelan Government.

“Venezuela denounces that at a time when humanity is facing the fiercest of pandemics, the government of Donald Trump is again attacking the people of Venezuela and its democratic institutions with a new form of coup d’état, based on miserable and unfounded accusations that they try to minimize the high recognition that Venezuela has in the fight against drug trafficking, fully demonstrated in different multilateral spheres”, indicates the text read by the Chancellor.

In the denounce, the Venezuelan State reiterates that the policies of changing by force the Government in Venezuela are destined to fail, by trying to offer rewards against high-ranking officials of the national Government, with the aim of achieving electoral merits.

He states that Washington’s main frustration is the peace, tranquility and stability that Venezuela enjoys today, thanks to the actions of the Government and its security forces against the attempted coup d’état.

In the text, he explains that the American tycoon rejects the successes of President Maduro, by appropriately employing policies to prevent the threats of Covid-19 that currently keeps more than 500,000 people infected in the world and has caused the death of more than 23,000 people.

Likewise, he recalls how Venezuela, through the actions of former President Hugo Chávez, and Nicolás Maduro, first as chancellor and then as national president, facilitated the negotiations on the Peace Agreement, reached in 2016 in Cartagena de Indias, between the Colombian Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC-EP).

“The declarations that the Bolivarian Government has made over terrorist plans in Colombian territory financed and directed by the United States, against the peace and stability of Venezuela, are verified through declarations by those directly responsible”, points out the statement.

Given this scenario, “the complicity and submission of the Iván Duque Government to the United States” is evident, which ignores the complaints made by Venezuela in due course, dismissing that information.

Faced with a new threat from the US management against the Venezuelan people, the government of President Maduro, along with its democratic institutions, assumes its position of protection and defense of the nation, in the face of any “desperate action by Donald Trump”, as emphasizes the document.
