The president of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, rejected on Wednesday the threats made against Venezuela by his American counterpart, Donald Trump, and said that the goal of the White House tenant is to lead the United States. «Towards a high level conflict» against the South American country.
«I proposed dialogue, wanting dialogue is not a sign of weakness, but Trump is leading the US towards a high level conflict against Venezuela. I call on the honest sectors of the US to face his interventionist, illegal and immoral policy”, said Maduro, during a meeting with representatives of the small and medium Venezuelan industries.
Likewise, the Head of State rejected the support that Trump has given the opposition deputy Juan Guaidó to boost his self-proclamation as an alleged “interim president.”
«In Venezuela the president is not designated by the United States, the people in popular mandate elects it. Enough of your extremist obsession, Trump!” he exclaimed to this regard, after remembering that this year will be held legislative elections in the South American country.
“We will have legislative elections for the National Assembly (AN), Mr. Donald Trump, and the wimp (Guaidó) that you have tried to impose on Venezuela will be left without work”, said the president, who predicted a victory of Chavismo in those elections.
«That will also be your failure, Mr. Donald. Your advisors are leading you to failure by putting that puppet on your side (…) They have filled you with defeat, lies and manipulation”, added the Venezuelan president.
Last Tuesday, during his State of the Union address to the US Congress, Trump promised to “crush the tyranny of Maduro” and introduced Guaidó, who was present at that act, as “the true and legitimate president of Venezuela”.
These expressions and actions were cataloged by the Venezuelan Chancellory, through a statement, as «an agonizing effort to revive the already failed strategy of a government change by force, attached to a prefabricated script, in the middle of an electoral circus show» , since presidential elections will be held in the US in November this year.
