Venezuela will receive official visit from the Russian Chancellor

On February 7, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will travel to Venezuela as part of an official visit that will allow both governments to strengthen the strong ties maintained by Caracas and Moscow.

The diplomat plans to hold meetings with the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, and his Venezuelan counterpart, Jorge Arreaza, before being welcomed by the President of the Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

“The exchanges between Venezuela and Russia are getting closer and more frequent”, said Vice President Rodriguez in August last year, after meeting in Moscow with the Russian Foreign Minister.

Both nations have forged an important strategic alliance that has enabled the signing of hundreds of bilateral cooperation agreements in different areas, mainly in energy, economic, technological, industrial, and military matters, whose impulse was then given by President Hugo Chávez in a geopolitical vision that raised the construction of a multi-centric and multipolar world.
