President Maduro: 21 years ago the Venezuelan people began building true democracy

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, celebrated that 21 years ago the Venezuelan people took the reins of the construction of true democracy with an ample participation, after the presidential oath of Commander Hugo Chávez:

«21 years are met of that historic oath, in which the Venezuelan people took the path of building true democracy with an ample participation. Today we continue along the path of the construction of the Bolivarian Socialism of the 21st Century. Together we are going to achieve it!”, wrote the Head of State on the Twitter social network.

21 years ago the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chavez, swore to the Venezuelan people that he would transform Venezuela into a free and sovereign Homeland.

“On February 2, Commander Chávez swore by mandate of the people, to transform Venezuela into a Free and Sovereign Homeland”, he said on Twitter.

After formally assuming the presidency of the Republic, he had sworn in his team at Miraflores Palace, and called for a referendum for the formation of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC).

This consultation threw an overwhelming 87% of votes in favor of drafting the new Magna Carta. This constitutional text was approved on December 15, 1999 by a 71% of the electorate, which represented a greater citizen participation.
