Venezuela supports Group of Countries in Defense of the UN Charter

Chancellor Jorge Arreaza ratified the willingness of the Bolivarian Government to support the Group of Countries in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations Organization (UN), with the purpose of guaranteeing compliance with international law and safeguarding the right to self-determination of the peoples:

«Before the world stage, we must strongly promote the Group of Countries in Defense of the UN Charter, created in 2019 in the face of aggression against Venezuela. The United States and its allies violate the principles of the Charter on a daily basis, putting international Peace and security at permanent risk”, he wrote in his Twitter account.

Last Friday, the permanent representative of Venezuela to the UN, Samuel Moncada, reaffirmed the commitment to the Charter and the norms of international law, while expressing support for the formation of a Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations, in order to guarantee to all the peoples of the world the effective application of the most important legal, moral and intellectual instrument designed by humanity to prevent a Third World War since 1945, as says the website of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The statement was made by Moncada during the High-Level Open Debate of the Security Council on the Defense of the United Nations Charter for the Maintenance of International Peace and Security.
