On the afternoon of Wednesday, the summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) was installed in Mexico, where this North American nation will take the presidential presidency of the integrative body.
The information was released by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry in its account on the Twitter social network, which details the participation of the Minister for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, as the representative of Venezuela at the summit:
«Vice President for Communication, Tourism and Culture, Jorge Rodríguez, participates in the installation of the Pro-Tempore Presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, CELAC, from the Ministry of Public Education of Mexico», reports the Foreign Ministry on the Social network.
The installation was carried out in the Ibero-American Hall of the Secretary of Public Education (SEP).
Within the framework of the installation of CELAC, Minister Rodríguez held an earlier meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez; in order to strengthen relations between both nations.
Similarly, on Tuesday, Rodriguez held a meeting with Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada, in which were reviewed the bilateral agreements between the two nations.
CELAC was constituted at the Summit of the Latin America and the Caribbean Unit in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, on February 23, 2010, and was put into operation since December 3, 2011 at the Foundational Summit of Caracas.
