President Maduro: The people of Chile has the right to a National Constituent Assembly

The people of Chile has the right to a National Constituent Assembly that allows them to overcome the model inherited from the Augusto Pinochet regime and advance on their systems that guarantee their rights and well-being, said the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
In the context of the closing of the first International Youth and Student Congress that took place in Caracas, more than 1,500 national and international delegates agreed “to greet Chile’s decision to rebel in the streets to open the large paths against the government of Chile chaired by Sebastián Piñera”, as remarked the Head of State.
“Another great rebellion, yesterday were met five weeks of popular rebellion against Sebastián Piñera and the model left by Pinochet, demanding a National Constituent Assembly. The people of Chile has the right to a sovereign, plenipotentiary National Constituent Assembly that exceeds and leaves behind the Pinochet Constitution”, said President Maduro in a joint radio and television broadcast.
The National President reflected on the Chilean situation and affirmed that the struggle undertaken by the people of that South American country since October 18 against the imposition of neoliberal measures, aims to achieve a new fundamental text to draw the people’s hope for the future and a new Chilean society “with the values of (Salvador) Allende, of Violeta Parra, of Víctor Jara”, he stressed.
Similarly, he said that with the coup d’etat and murder of Salvador Allende, executed by the United States, Chile’s dreams and hope were massacred and in that sense, he considered that the society of the southern country seeks a better society:
“What would have happened to Chile if President Salvador Allende had been allowed to govern. Chile today would be the country of greatest happiness”, he said.
