Cabello: It is necessary to give power to the people

The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, emphasized on Saturday that the popular organization is a fundamental element to consolidate participatory and leading democracy:
“Popular organization is fundamental. This gives a lot of shine to the participatory and leading democracy that is in our Constitution (…) It is absolutely necessary that the people be given power, ”said Cabello in statements transmitted by Venezolana de Television from the mobilization that takes place this Saturday in defense of the communal state.
In this regard, he thanked the participation of the members of the First International Congress of Communes – held until Sunday at the Alba-Caracas Hotel -, as well as condemned the attacks against the peoples of several countries in Latin America and the Caribbean , which have been repressed by the security forces for raising their voices in defense of their rights and in rejection of neoliberal policies.
The people become aware, the spaces, the people are waking up, because nobody but the people can fight for their livelihoods than the people themselves”, he said, referring to the mobilizations that took place in Ecuador – last week – and which have been registered for a week in Chile – which were repressed by the security forces – in rejection of the neoliberal measures imposed by their governments.
At this point the Minister for the Communes, Blanca Eekhout, agreed that with the construction of the Communal State – as promoted by then President Hugo Chavez – begins a new cycle in the revolutionary process promoted in the country 20 years ago.
“Capitalist barbarism is condemning peoples to destruction, which is why it has generated what has meant historical setbacks for the popular movement. At this time the people can no longer rise in Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Haiti, Colombia, the United States. They are saying ‘NO’ to that model. In Venezuela we are building another model, that is the people who have rights to build, where these exploitation mechanisms are transformed into a method of collective construction”, he stressed.
