The Government of Venezuela on Thursday rejected the parliamentary coup d’ etat that is underway in Brazil. Following, the communiqué:
COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA IN REJECTION TO THE ATTEMPT OF COUP D’ ETAT IN THE FEDERATIVE REPUBLIC OF BRAZIL
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the Parliamentary Coup d’Etat underway in Brazil, through legal farces of oligarchic domes and imperial forces, which seeks the overthrowing of the President, Dilma Rousseff, to replace the people’s sovereignty, threatening the constitution and democracy.
The legitimate president, Dilma Rousseff, the first woman elected as head of state in Brazil, is facing an onslaught motivated by revenge of those factors that lost the elections and who are unable to reach political power by other means than by force.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela recognizes the moral heritage, dignity and historical ability to fight of President Dilma Rousseff, who has demonstrated with her example and humanist vocation to be a guarantee for democracy, social conquests of the Brazilian people and the our-american unity.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela considers that the coup d’ etat in development has been forged from the moment of the election of President Dilma Rousseff, through the implementation of actions linked to the soft coup, such as sabotage, disinformation, and lies, even to the extent of trying to prevent the making in Brazil of sporting events of a great global significance, with the aim of discrediting the Government and its authorities.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has no doubt that all these actions are part of the oligarchic and imperial onslaught against progressive and left wing popular processes with the sole purpose of re-imposing neoliberal models of social exclusion and the spoliation of our natural wealth that brought poverty and backlog for our people and thus end the democratizing models.
The process of Coup d’ Etat in Brazil aims to replace popular sovereignty and ignoring the legitimate will of its people. Therefore, we appeal to the peoples of the world to remain vigilant and ready for the defense of democracy, of President Dilma Rousseff and the processes of unity and integration among our countries.
