ANC authorizes continuing criminal trial against AN deputies

The National Constituent Assembly (ANC) on Monday authorized the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) to continue the criminal trial against the deputies of the National Assembly (AN) in contempt; José Ángel Guerra Brito, Rafael Guzmán, Juan Pablo García and Tomás Guanipa Villalobos.
The TSJ accuses these deputies of crimes of treason, conspiracy, instigation to insurrection, civil rebellion, concert to commit crimes, usurpation of functions, public instigation for disobedience of laws and continued hatred.
Due to the flagrance of the crimes there will be no previous merit trial against these citizens, explained the president of the ANC, Diosdado Cabello, during the ordinary session held on Monday:
“(There are) Four communications addressed to this National Constituent Assembly on behalf of the Supreme Court of Justice where the inquiries open to these citizens that were elected as deputies in the elections of 2015, that committed crimes in a public, notorious and communication flagrancy; their prosecution has been requested, is not preceded by a merit trial due to the condition of flagrancy (…) and the prosecution is ordered for that purpose by means of the ordinary courts as it corresponds according to our Constitution and the law of Venezuela”, announced Cabello after reading the requests issued by the Highest Court.
“None of them can say that they were not there, that they did not participate, that they are being involved by others. Everyone has openly done it, and there goes justice”, he added.
Regarding the measure, the constituents expressed their support for the TSJ measures: “We welcome the decision that the TSJ has taken against these characters who have been permanently acting against our people”, said constituent Dario Vivas when offering a few words.
“The people asks for justice, and there will be jail for everyone, against anyone who conspires against the Homeland”, said Vivas.
