Parliamentary elections will not come later than 2020

The president of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), Diosdado Cabello, reiterated that the elections of the Legislative Power must be held in 2020, in accordance with the provisions of the Bolivarian Constitution.
“Here there will be elections, the parliamentary elections will not come later than 2020. Anything can happen, but what is certain is that next year, at the latest, there will be parliamentary elections in Venezuela”, said Cabello during his “Con el Mazo Dando” (Hitting with the Hammer) program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
This is how the president of the ANC dismisses the rumors surrounding alleged presidential elections that would have been agreed upon in the dialogue process between the delegation of the Bolivarian Government and representatives of the Venezuelan opposition, which is being carried out in Barbados.
This signaling by Cabello responds, in addition, to the statements made in recent days by the Chancellor of Spain, Josep Borrell, who expressed through his Twitter account that to reach elections in Venezuela, the opposition should negotiate with the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
“Regarding Venezuela, what happens is that Maduro has control of the Administration, the army and the territory. If you want to have elections, you necessarily have to negotiate with him, as the Venezuelan opposition has understood”, said Borrell.
