Venezuela commemorates Turkey's Day of Democracy and National Unity

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, on Monday praised the courage and determination of the people of Turkey to the intention of a coup d’etat held on July 15, 2016, and which commemorates the Day of the Democracy and National Unity in the Turkish nation.
“On such a distinguished date, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela exalts the courage and determination of the courageous Turkish people, who on that night of July 15, 2016, rose up against the pretense of a bloody coup d’état that sought to break the will of the whole nation”, reads the communiqué published on Monday by the Venezuelan Chancellory through its website.
In addition, the text indicates that Venezuela highlights the “transcendence of this day as the irrefutable victory in favor of the consolidation of the independent and sovereign character of the Republic of Turkey”.
Turkey celebrates the Day of Democracy and National Unity every July 15 due to a failed military coup that caused nearly 300 deaths and more than 2,000 injured, according to official figures.

“The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Bolivarian People and Government, wishes to reiterate the most sincere feelings of friendship towards the sister of the Republic of Turkey, on the occasion of commemorating the Day of Democracy and National unity.
On such a distinguished date, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela exalts the courage and determination of the courageous Turkish people, who on that night of July 15, 2016, rose up against the pretensions of a bloody coup d’état that sought to break the will of all the nation. As a nation that fights and respects the rule of law and institutions, we recognize the importance of this day as the irrefutable victory in favor of the consolidation of the independent and sovereign character of the Republic of Turkey.
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates the deep bonds of friendship that unite us with the Republic of Turkey, and ratifies its willingness to continue working together in various areas of cooperation for the benefit of our Peoples”.
