Ambassador Moncada: The dialogue process is sabotaged by the OAS

The Permanent Representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations Organization (UN), Samuel Moncada, denounced the interventionist nature of a press conference offered this Friday by the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, the Special envoy of the United States for Venezuela, Elliot Abrams and the Venezuelan -fugitive from justice- Ivan Simonovis, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison for violent acts that took place in 2002.
Ambassador Moncada recalled that Elliot Abrams, who leads the assault on the South American country from the White House, has a history of war crimes in Latin America: Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Iraq are just some of the besieged countries. Abrams is an expert “sending weapons as humanitarian aid, as they want to do in Venezuela”, he said, while accusing the Trump Administration of wanting to apply that “formula” in the Bolivarian nation.
“There is a group of countries and external political powers that want to take Venezuela back to the brink of war and invasion. Two in particular: the Government of the United States and the Government of Colombia”, said Ambassador Samuel Moncada, referring to the statements made by the self-styled Lima Group, who spoke out against the dialogue talks held between the National Government and the Venezuelan opposition in Norway and Barbados.
“Despite the action of dark forces, dialogue is underway” and it is necessary “to defend the peaceful process”, as emphasized the Venezuelan diplomat.
In that sense, he stressed that “this group” insists on breaking Venezuela’s paths to reach a peaceful solution to the problems that afflict the population. And that from the neighboring country -Colombia- are being recruited mercenaries to execute a coup d’état in the nation:
“They want to destroy the only option that Venezuela has to reach a peaceful settlement. They intend to expand their violence to Venezuela”, said the Ambassador.
On that point, he added that the dialogue process that began in Norway is undermined and sabotaged by the Organization of American States (OAS).
“Mr. Almagro is the one who asks for military intervention for Venezuela”, he said.
Ambassador Moncada also denounced in a press conference that the leader of the Voluntad Popular party, Carlos Vecchio, “is violating international law by taking the diplomatic premises in Washington by force”.
Finalizing his speech and before the consultation of various media, the diplomat referred to the report on Venezuela presented by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet:
“We are committed to human rights, we are willing to correct what needs to be corrected, but we will not accept an open attack against Venezuela”, he said.
Likewise, he said that President Nicolás Maduro sent a letter to High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet in defense of the Venezuelan people and in rejection of the report that makes invisible the victims of the opposition’s political violence and the efforts of the Bolivarian Government to protect the human rights of the Venezuelans
