President of ANC dismissed rumors about alleged presidential elections

The president of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), Diosdado Cabello, dismissed rumors about possible presidential elections as a result of the journey of dialogue between the delegation of the National Government and representatives of the Venezuelan opposition that was carried out with the mediation of the Government of Norway and that has culminated in Barbados.
During the broadcast of his «Con el mazo dando» (Hitting with the Hammer) program, through Venezolana de Televisión, on Wednesday, Cabello, reviewed by digital media, was emphatic in stating that the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has still five years and six months left in his duties as Head of State, after being elected by the votes of the people in the elections of May 20, 2018 with a 67% of the votes, for the 2019-2025 constitutional period, as reviews the website of the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN).
The constituent clarified this, in response to information that some sectors of the opposition tried to position in various media and social networks about the process of dialogue and an alleged electoral process for 2020.
The also first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) clarified that in any case the parliamentary elections are the only ones planned in the future, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.
Likewise, he recalled that the convocation of electoral processes beyond the established deadline only belongs to the members of the ANC, since the National Assembly, with an opposition majority, is in contempt and with legal nullity since 2016 by decree of the Supreme Court of Justice.
Finally, Cabello urged the opposition leadership to take the process of dialogue seriously and avoid pronouncements that only obey the rhetoric of the most extreme sectors of the Venezuelan right wing.
On Wednesday culminated the journey of dialogue between the delegation of the National Government and representatives of the opposition held in Barbados, a process that was described as successful by the sector vice-president for Communication, Tourism and Culture, Jorge Rodríguez.
«This journey of the permanent dialogue table for peace concluded in Barbados, a space for settling disputes through constitutional and peaceful means. Successful exchange sponsored by the Government of Norway. We thank the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mía Mottley, for her hospitality», wrote Rodríguez on his account on the Twitter social network.
