North Korea rejects Coup in Venezuela

A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Korea said Sunday that his country supports the legitimate government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, and also denounced the failed coup attempt.
According to the North Korea Telegraph Agency (KCNA), the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry declared that the recent situation in the South American country is a “dangerous act of violence that leads Venezuela’s situation to extreme instability”.
After the action of the national and international right to overthrow President Maduro on April 30, the representative of the North Korean Ministry added that “this abnormal incident has a negative influence on the general situation of the region” of the Americas and the Caribbean.
Authorities of Kim Jong-Un’s government recently accused the United States (US) of intervening in the affairs of Venezuela by issuing “imprudent” messages to threaten the country with a “possible military operation.”
Diplomatic relations between North Korea and Venezuela have allowed nations to sign agreements of cooperation and political understanding. North Korea has been one of the countries that rejected the self-proclamation of the opposition and president of the National Assembly (AN) in contempt, Juan Guaidó, and on different occasions has defended the legitimacy of the Venezuelan leader.
