Russia denies alleged creation of military base in Venezuela

Russia denied the alleged plans to create military bases in Venezuela. The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said on Thursday that this is the first time she has heard about it, and said that she has not “seen any discussion” between the two countries.
The spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry specified that the legal regulations of the South American country do not allow the creation and installation of any military base from any country.
Regarding the statements issued by the President of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, who asked for Russia’s departure from Venezuela, considered that he has no moral or legal justifications, cataloging such request as “a brazenness”.
In earlier statements, Zajárova affirmed that Russia and Venezuela are not American provinces, reason why the US lacks any right to dictate them the form how they must take their relations.
The spokeswoman said that the government of President Trump, has an “arrogant” attitude for wanting to dictate to two sovereign States how they should build their bilateral ties.
Zajárova said that Russian specialists are in Venezuelan territory in accordance with the treaty of technical-military collaboration signed in 2001 between the two nations.
These statements were also rejected by China; the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Geng Shuang, said that “Latin America does not belong to any country and is not anyone’s backyard”, a criticism he shared with his Russian colleague.
Zajárova confirmed that the government of Russian President Vladimir Putin will continue to “provide assistance to the legitimate Government of this (South American) country for the stabilization of the domestic political situation and the solution of the social and economic crisis.”
