Vice President of the US calls for a coup d'etat in Venezuela

The vice-president of the United States of America, Mike Pence, called on Tuesday to give a coup d’etat in Venezuela, by disowning the legitimate government of the head of State, Nicolás Maduro for the constitutional period 2019-2025.
Through a video posted on his Twitter account, Pence again insisted that the head of state, Nicolás Maduro, “is a dictator with no legitimate right to power”. While sending a message of support for the march that the Venezuelan opposition called for this Wednesday, January 23 “to start the steps of a transitional government”.
According to Pence, the only legitimate body in Venezuela is the National Assembly, which has been in contempt since 2016 for not complying with a ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) and swearing in three deputies for Amazonas state, who were suspended for irregularities in their election process in 2015
The US vice president expressed his support for the president of the National Assembly in contempt, Juan Guaidó, and the unconstitutional actions he has been carrying out, including declaring Maduro “as a usurper and calling for the establishment of a transitional government”.
“By raising your voices tomorrow, on behalf of the American people, we say to the people of Venezuela we are with you, we support you, and we will continue to support you until democracy in Venezuela is restored and your rights of freedom that belong to you are vindicated. Go with God”, he said in an interventionist manner.
Pence’s statements were condemned by the vice president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, who stressed that his US counterpart promotes a coup d’état:
“Mike Pence appeals to his verbal incontinence to give orders to Venezuelans in a clear call to disown the rule of law and to attack their legitimate and constitutional authorities!”, she wrote in her Twitter account.
She also noted that Pence believes that he governs Venezuela, and stressed that “this is not only outdated and retrograde, but also unequivocally out of reality! We Venezuelans exercise our national sovereignty according to our laws and respecting international law!”.
Finally, she added: “Venezuela rejects and protests your reckless, interventionist and grave declaration that reveals the clear intention of the US government to undermine the country’s public powers and to encourage the extremist sectors of the right wing to a coup d’état! We Venezuelans will defend sovereignty and peace”.
