Venezuela’s denounce of terrorist plans has a preventive purpose

“The objective is to avoid generating an unwanted conflict that seeks to justify an intervention by the United States,” reiterated on Thursday the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza.

During a meeting with the diplomatic corps in Venezuela, at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry, in Caracas, he stressed that the denunciations of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, about terrorist plans orchestrated in Colombia and the United States, seek to avoid a bloodbath in national territory:

“They seek to encourage the spark of war, ignite a situation of conflict to justify situations of aggression in the country”, he ratified.

Arreaza said he expects the Colombian government to investigate the allegations presented on Wednesday, December 12, about the plans in which would be involved the US security adviser, John Bolton.

“If the Colombian government is interested in avoiding a conflict, it should investigate this case”, he said.

He asserted that Venezuelan diplomacy is committed to establishing a communication channel at the highest level with the neighboring country.

“We share more than 2100 kilometers in length, one of the most active borders in the world”, he said, in addition to almost 6 million Colombian citizens living on Venezuelan soil.

The Venezuelan chancellor said that John Bolton imposed himself to stop the meeting between the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and President Maduro:

“We want all the States of the world to be represented in Venezuela, from the United States to Cuba, all of them, but if they are not going to respect Venezuela it is better that they leave”, added Arreaza.

He said that any State that wants to withdraw their ambassador and diplomatic corps in Venezuela “Can do so, but must take out from the ambassador up to the last official of its country”.

However, “If they stay in the country, it must be respecting the legal system, the institutions and peace of Venezuela”, he added.
