For upcoming 2019 the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela will sell its crude production in the Petro cryptocurrency, as informed on Thursday the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro:
“We will progressively sell all our oil production in Petros. For 2019 we have a schedule to sell it in Petros and in this way continue freeing us of a currency that the elite of Washington uses to blackmail, attack, cause economic damages to the peoples of the world, just as they persecute Cuba, Venezuela and Russia”, said the National President, in a broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión.
Maduro argued that, in order to consolidate the construction of a pluri-polar world in the economic sphere, it is necessary to implement “a balanced, fair and diverse monetary system, where the dollar enters as an exchange currency, but not to be used as a political mechanism”.
On the occasion of the 175th Meeting of the Conference of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) held in Vienna, Austria, the Head of State indicated that the Venezuelan government maintains a clear position regarding the oil cut:
“We will always defend OPEC and the alliance with non-OPEC countries. Our position is very clear, we believe that there has to be a cut and an extension of the Vienna agreement of December 2016”, he said.
