9,231 Venezuelans have registered to be repatriated with Vuelta a la Patria Plan

Until October 14, a total of 9,231 Venezuelans have registered in different Venezuelan embassies and consulates abroad, so that they can be repatriated through the Vuelta a la Patria (Return to the Homeland) Plan, promoted by the National Executive.

According to these figures published by the Chancellory of the Republic, in its twitter account, until that same date, 8,116 nationals have returned to the country, of which 6,413 have done so from Brazil, 565 from Ecuador, 564 from Peru.

Another 305 have returned from Colombia, 171 from Argentina, 95 from the Dominican Republic, two from Chile and another from Panama.

78% of the repatriations have been made by air with six flights from Peru and Ecuador, two from Argentina and another from the Dominican Republic, while 22% have returned by land.

Out of the 8,116 repatriates, 55% are women and 45% are men, of which 66% are adults, 13% are seniors, 17% are adolescents and 5% are boys and girls.

A 60% of Venezuelans who have returned to the country with this plan have done so because of economic problems in the country to which they emigrated and difficulty in finding a decent job.
A 47% indicated that they returned due to being victims of mistreatment in the host country, and 12% due to health problems.

The “Vuelta a la Patria” program aims to support Venezuelans who emigrated but, after encountering an adverse reality in other nations, now wish to return to Venezuela, with the premise of studying, working for the peace and socio-economic prosperity of the nation.

Before the campaign of xenophobia and discrimination against Venezuelans, in April this year President Nicolás Maduro proposed designing a support plan aimed at serving citizens who have been victims of media manipulation that made them migrate, losing their heritage and quality of life, with the purpose of providing conditions for their return to the country.

The Vuelta a la Patria Plan includes three phases, which includes the registration in the program, the logistics operation with the transfer to Venezuela, and the insertion in the social protection system of the National Government.
