More than 64% of the country’s public universities were built by the Revolution

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolàs Maduro, reported on Tuesday that more than 2 million young people began classes at the university level:

“Today we started a new university period in style with 2,853,520 students across the country, that means that in this period we are increasing enrollment by 5%,” he explained during a work meeting in Miraflores Palace.

The National Leader pointed out that in these years of the Bolivarian Revolution, have been created 45 universities, 22 of them inaugurated by Commander Hugo Chávez, and 19 during his term:

“We have 69 public universities in the country and 45 of them, that is, just over 64% of the country’s public universities, have been founded during the Revolution”, he said.

He added that “A 78% of university students study at public institutions, free and of quality”.

He urged the rectors to adapt university programs in accordance with the needs of the country and urged the Minister of People’s Power for University Education, Science and Technology, Hugbel Roa, to present a concrete proposal for transformation at this educational level.
