Venezuela rejects disrespectful Colombian statement against President Nicolás Maduro Moros

The Government of Venezuela expressed its strong rejection of the press release published by the Government of Colombia against the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

Following, the communiqué:

“The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela emphatically rejects the press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia, dated October 5, 2018, accusing President Nicolás Maduro of assaulting Colombia and its authorities.

In this regard, it must be remembered that even before the start of the electoral campaign, the current President of Colombia has systematically used a hostile, coarse, belligerent and challenging language against President Nicolás Maduro, through offenses and insults against the Venezuelan Presidential majesty and against the popular will of the Venezuelan people.

It is laughable that the presidency of Colombia feels offended, when it is a public and notorious fact that Mr. Duque has placed the Colombian institutions at the service of obscure and unspeakable interests against the Government of Venezuela, endorsing and supporting all sorts of actions and conspiracies, including the protection of the intellectual and material authors of the proven frustrated assassination attempt against President Nicolás Maduro, who are based in Colombia.

As it is a custom of the recent Governments of Colombia, experts in the assembly of false positives, once again he intends to dilute and evade his international responsibilities by pointing to Venezuela as an aggressor, when reality shows that the Venezuelan people have been the first victims of the overflow of the violence and vices generated by the Colombian internal conflict, as well as the uncontrolled expansion of the Colombian drug industry, as well as Venezuela has been subject to devious attacks against its currency and its economy, based on decisions taken consciously and intentionally by the authorities of the neighboring country.

What Venezuela receives is much more than references through the diplomacy of the microphones, it is about dangerous actions that, under the protection of the US Government, the Colombian institutions have been developing against the stability of Venezuela and against regional peace.

As it is our duty with history, and consistent with the Bolivarian Diplomacy of peace, the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela again urges the government of Colombia to exercise a dignified diplomacy, frank, direct, without intermediaries or tutelages, to discuss bilateral issues of high strategic interest for a peaceful coexistence, a call that, up to date throws as a balance the sharp and unusual refusal of the Colombian Government to establish a minimum channel of communication between both States”.
