The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced on Monday that Petro could be used as an account unit, that is, as a Venezuelan currency for the sale of goods and services.
“The use of Petro is legalized as an account currency, as a Venezuelan currency, so as of today, the sale of goods and real estate in Petros should be allowed and promoted. Also, the collection of hotels, airfare, exit taxes, must proceed immediately to be charged in Petros”, he said.
He also indicated that oil and its derivatives will be marketed with the digital currency:
“All Venezuelan oil must son come to be sold in Petros very soon, as well as international aviation gasoline. We already have the technological infrastructure”, he said.
Law of the Integral System of Crypto-assets goes to the ANC:
The Venezuelan Head of State addressed to the presidency of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) the draft of the Constitutional Law on the Integral System of Crypto-assets:
“It is a law of a constitutional nature, unique in the world (…) through which we proceed to create and define the regulatory framework applicable to the Integral System of Crypto-assets as an organizational and functional expression of economic sovereignty with the firm purpose of advancing harmoniously in the productive and social development of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela”, he explained.
