The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, on Wednesday called on the United Nations (UN) to conduct an independent investigation into the magnicidal attempt of August 4 on the Bolivar avenue in Caracas:
«I want to ask the United Nations System to appoint a special delegate, to conduct an independent international investigation on the attack that occurred in our country», he expressed during his speech at the 73rd UN General Assembly.
The National President pointed out that the people who have been captured for being involved in the magnicidal attempt have confessed on the involvement of Colombia and the United States in these events.
«All the investigations lead to the fact that the terrorist attack was prepared, was financed from the United States territory. All the investigations indicate that the material authors were trained in Colombian territory», he said.
He recalled that he has told the US government how good it would be to heed the call for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), with their high-level professionals and scientists, to join this investigation in order to clarify the truth.
