Venezuela reaffirms at the UN commitment to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, reaffirmed before the United Nations (UN) the commitment of Venezuela to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and to keep alive the legacy and principles of Nelson Mandela, solidarity and selfless help at the service of the humanity.

During his speech at the 73rd session of the United Nations Organization held in New York City, Arreaza stressed that the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development offers a framework for action on behalf of humanity, the planet, and thus strengthen universal peace:

“Nelson Mandela is an immense leader of our era, his legacy is inspiration, through his example of courage, reconciliation and compassion; therefore we must translate our words into actions”, he said.

He urged to redouble efforts to establish at the global level the conditions that lead to a sustained peace and to promote a culture of peace.

He added that the legacy of Madiba – as the South African leader was also known – is an essential part of the Bolivarian Revolution that puts the human being as an element for the construction of peace:

“Let’s commit ourselves, as Madiba would say, to the construction of a complete, just and lasting peace, let’s do it for present and future generations”, he said.

Arreaza said that, faced with the attacks of the imperial powers that seek to undermine world peace and stability, the member states of the Non-Aligned Countries Movement (NAM) -including Venezuela- strengthen their anti-war posture with the aim of establishing a fair and equitable world order that is framed within the 2030 agenda for the sustainable development of nations.
