Journalist José Vicente Rangel asserted this Wednesday that “the loyalty that the people has with Jorge Rodríguez-senior-is the same that he had with the people”; In the opinion of the political analyst, the leader did not hesitate to give his life for Venezuela.
Rangel affirmed that Jorge Rodríguez was always loyal to Venezuela. “I had contact with him when he founded his party, I also visited him in Maracaibo, where he was detained, and in those meetings he expressed all his revolutionary and combatant thinking. I never imagined that this person had the end of his life in the conditions in which it happened. He who knew all the secrets, truths and lies, never gave up before his persecutors and really died like a hero”.
He recalled that: “Jorge Rodríguez Sr. was a rude and powerful political combatant, there is no doubt about that and his children are proof of what he was”. This was pointed out from the General Cemetery of the South, in Caracas, where a tribute was made on Wednesday when are met 42 years of the brutal assassination of the revolutionary leader, a man of moral and irreproachable dignity who gave his life for the construction of the Socialist Homeland.
As it will be recalled today marks 42 years of the sowing of Jorge Rodríguez senior, the socialist leader who was born in Carora, Lara state, on February 16, 1942. On July 25, 1976 he died in the dungeons of the former Sectoral General Directorate of the Services of Intelligence and Prevention (Disip), after being tortured by the security forces of the first Government of Carlos Andrés Pérez.
