Sao Paulo Forum: President Maduro called to fight maneuvers of the right wing against progressive projects

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, warned on Tuesday that right wing factors in Latin America lack a democratic project and, instead, seek revenge against the progressive movements in the region.

The Venezuelan Head of State called for strategies to stop the onslaught of right-wing agents against progressive governments and projects.

In his speech at the closing ceremony of the 24th Sao Paulo Forum, in Cuba, he called to confront “that intolerant right wing that persecutes the people to end liberation projects”.

For this, he proposed to design new ways of denouncing these attacks, in the same way as it was done with the fascist governments that existed in the region.

During his speech he stressed that the development of measures aimed at meeting the needs of the population in any nation needs to strengthen the independence necessary to implement the necessary social policies.

“Those who aspire dignity, social justice, equality, happiness for the people, independence of Latin America cannot believe that it will be a bed of roses, it will be a struggle and a permanent struggle to open space and paths to the ideas of redemption, justice and happiness of the peoples. If you aspire to the happiness of your people you have to aspire to political and economic independence”, he said during his participation in the 24th Sao Paulo Forum, held in Havana, Cuba.

He reiterated that Venezuela has faced a war of unconventional character of attrition on the part of the government of the United States.

“No matter the diversity of circumstances at the beginning or at the end you will see the face, as we have seen, the monster of the American empire and the interests of the local oligarchies”, he said.

He recalled that since the physical departure of Hugo Chávez, the Bolivarian people have faced various forms of unconventional warfare.

“We are children of obstacles, of struggles, of difficulties”, he exclaimed.

He denounced that Venezuela has been subjected to threats of military invasion in the course of the last year by the government of the United States.

“Venezuela wants peace, with justice, with democracy, with justice, with national independence. We are Bolívar’s children and we do not fear any threat from the American empire”, he said.

During his speech, he recalled that on December 6, will be commemorated 20 years of the first electoral victory of Hugo Chávez in 1998.

He recalled that by that time, US government officials were saying in reports and speeches that both the MBR 200 (primitive Bolivarian political movement) and Commander Chávez as an element that did not cooperate in the interests of the United States.

“Who said that one has to work for the interests of the United States? – he questioned – one has to work on the interests and especially of Latin America and the Caribbean in the vision of (Simón) Bolívar, of the liberators”, he said.
