On December 9, members of municipal councils will be elected

The Chairwoman of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Tibisay Lucena, announced on Wednesday that the elections of members of the municipal councils, will be held on Sunday, December 9.

Lucena said that in this election will be chosen 4,900 posts, between principals and alternates; among the posts to choose 685 will be for main councilors, and the same number of substitutes per list; for nominal charges, the figure is of 1,703 principals and the same number of substitutes, while the indigenous representation will be 69 main posts with their respective alternates.

For this election are being authorized 15 national and 19 regional parties. In addition, since Monday, July 10 at least 30 organizations began the process of nomination to become political parties that should complete this process to also be able to submit nominations.

Lucena urged the organizations with political ends to comply with the regulations that require them to present candidacies with gender parity.

She clarified that the Electoral Power also plans to carry out the process of payroll renewal for those organizations with political ends that did not participate in the last election.

Special Electoral Registry since July 23:

The beginning of the schedule approved by the Electoral Power contemplates the realization of a special day of the electoral registry from July 23 to August 23.

Likewise, Lucena indicated that the installation of electoral boards will be held on September 9, the schedule will continue with the registration of the candidatures through the internet process that will take place between September 10 and 19.

Another phase of the electoral timetable for these elections will be held between September 19 and 24, when the nominees must present the precautions before the Municipal Boards.

The usual electoral fairs for voters to become familiar with the voting process are scheduled to take place from November 7 to December 6, while the electoral simulation will take place on November 11.

The electoral campaign for these elections begins on November 22 and will end on December 7.
