Venezuela reiterates willingness to dialogue with the US from respect for sovereignty

“We want to open a space with the administration of Donald Trump, I hope the Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela could meet with the US Secretary of State and speak with equality, with mutual respect, about our coincidences, our strategic projects and about our differences, That is the duty of international relations”.

This was stated on Wednesday by the Venezuelan Chancellor, Jorge Arreaza, during a press conference held from the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, where he defended Venezuela against the maneuvers promoted against the South American nation from the hemispheric instance.

During his speech, the diplomat said that there are US congressmen who have opened up to that possibility: “We have tried to do it, there are congressmen who have opened up to that possibility because they do not want to see the people suffering and do not believe that violating the international order can achieve positive effects”.

“Ours is called Bolivarian diplomacy of peace, this is how Commander Hugo Chávez called it, peace above all, we will seek it, but if we are attacked, we will respond in all areas”, he said.
